No raping and pillaging from us, cobber, This year D. Baldock and Z. Mitchell both wanted to have a crack at Victory League and both their clubs supported them. No one was asked (to be honest, I may have texted Sam Thompson from Ulvie in October, but he was the only one) to play from other clubs even though each coastal team has players capable of playing that level. If you want to play VL you'll come along. If not, you'll stay at your club. NO
Spot on Nick, I have had several discussions with Rocket and advised him that we fully support any player who wants a crack at Victory League. I would expect any approach to be through the clubs secretary/president anyway.
Disappointing result for the Sharks, River down to 10 men in first half, heaps of chances all day but no goals. River keeper made some great saves, certainly makes for an interesting year now.
Ultimately a decision to allow a keeper to be involved in set pieces cost Somerset the game. He may have got one late, but a costly mistake
Could not agree more, What the hell were the keeper and coach thinking? Opposition down to ten men and still needs to go forward? Oh well goes to show Somerset are not the team they were last year and Riverside must be the easy title contenders now after beating the champs with only ten men???
Firstly, props to Riverside having a pitch of that quality to play on, held up on a wet-ish day for all matches as was still in fantastic condition by the time us seniors took the park. Secondly, it was a great game. Riverside played well and capitalized on the mistakes we made. Their keeper was one of the best keepers i have seen in the NPL for a while and made some cracking saves to help them keep their lead. We werent able to finish chances we had, and got caught with offside a lot more than we should have preventing us putting away a few more. It was great to see a good sized crowd supporting both teams. We will be working hard on the areas we need to improve on and will be looking keen to facing Riverside again on our home turf later in the season.Elliot.
Without taking anything away from my respect for Somerset, bloody well done and congrats to Riverside on the win. I'm sure they know its just one of many more needed to nab the title, but a great step, and shows great strength in that club given the players they lost to Victory League clubs only last year.I would have loved to have been over to catch that game, great to hear loads of supporters about, as I have always said, the Northern Premier League must remain strong regardless of what happens in the Victory League, and this year it looks to be recovering nicely, Burnie are a good side, obviously depth will test them, but when they are on they are very good, good signs for football in the north, if we can just make sure FFT don't go trying to change anything else, that would be fab.DONK - Yes Sam its me, just cant be arsed signing in, (I bought you lunch this week)
