Have your say time

Ok, At this point in time we are getting many hits but not many comments. Some times it may take a certain topic for people to post something. So if there is something that you have been waiting to say now is the time. It may be an idea or just general post. Feel free to write what you want. But keep in mind posts will still be moderated...

  1. My post would be to tell the monitors of the site, especially those whom were resposible for the monitoring of the old blog ,that to continually moderate against comment that the particular moderator finds distasteful ,may well be acting against the blog as it may be of interest to others . The only post this year, against those at ranger land that was given air time, was that the gate attendant hung on too long. Let those at wally world , sorry I mean ranger land monitor their own gate I say. I feel that the diaretic will be taken to this post and called s hit not worthy of posting , and therein lies the issue, I wont bother again , like the not so few others that have been treated the same way. At the time this site was set up I believed in its integrity .. sadly I and others I talk to, do not at this point feel that so. It can be said that at least rangers people are providing comment . Well I say at least rangers people are getting thier comments published.Sorry Sam I do not include you in my grievances , you did however ask the question

    1. would you like to reveal yourself so we can have some debate on this, or are you talking about the pointless anon posts that read, "Ranger wankers" and alike? why would Sam, Nick or anyone else post crap like that, but I have posted plenty of comments that critise Rangers, and will continue to, but if they are nothing more than childish name calling from anonymous posters, I will simply click delete, time and time again.

    2. If I may add a comment to second Anon's thoughts. i Posted as to why after the knights v Rangers incident that the young injured player was Piggy backed off the groud. this was posted and then removed. Why?

      Delete
    3. I posted it and then removed it along with a number of posts that were serving no benefit to either clubs involved in that game, the posts were getting out of control and becoming personal. Again if it doesnt generate a positive outcome for the game, and its from an anonymous poster in my opinion, it has no place here. If you dont like it, put your hand up to become involved.

    4. I dont really see the need to put my name to comments, im a former player who left the state 5 years ago and just like keeping track of the league. Im not criticising what you do, as I could never up as much time as you guys do. But you asked what could generate discussion, dont moderate things because YOU think they dont belong. But I do beleive in moderating anything personal, especially attacks on people. No place for that. Just my thought capt, as I said, not having a go

  2. So what is the update on the rumour that Devonport cannot join the new T League due to their carry over suspension from the last one?

    1. This is a whole new concept and my discussions with FFT suggest there is no intention to inforce this, nor should they in my opinion, they are probably the one club in the north that are a certainty to be competative.

    2. That time has long since passed Chance (about 10 years ago!).

      Delete
    3. That seems a good idea, however I hope they don't set a precedent, that time over rules all discretions.
Capt... State League is State League, no matter what name you give it, and competitiveness is not part of the criteria for eligibility. Just saying...

    1. I guess, myself and nick have stopped these as a result of muppets like the above poster whom would rather pick the problems with reports and previews rather than read them and accept that people have opinions, and that is why Aus is a better place to live than North Korea. I guess have decided to invest my time where people appreciate it.

  4. Does anyone know why the roster is the way it is? Cause we (ulv) Have two byes in the second half of the year and none in the first?
And agree with you capt Aus.
Wats the point in making narrow minded Annon posts? Unless u put ur name there.....no one cares.

    1. probably down to ground availablity Ben. we have the two byes in the first half and given there are a few weeks off now for the State wide cup, this will make life difficult.

We should have arranged to play our fixture with you lot this weekend! forward planning?

    2. The rosters for the past 5 years or more have been diabolical, clubs play in the Premier League, best in the state, and are treated to a roster that fails miserably to provide a structured home and away schedule. Simply not good enough.

  5. If you lot want something to talk about go read Walter pless and see what the Hobart lot has to say about the north getting eliminated from the statewide cup.
Or give Bunnie a pat on the back for the improvement.
in the attitude at there club.
also how can we improve the standard of refs in our comp.
or when will fft give the north the same coverage of games they give to south all i see on fft site is Hobart games Hobart games and just a brief splatter bout the north.

FFT have a Match of the Round filmed each week in the North and the South. On their home page. they have a preview of BOTH SPL & NPL for men and women, as well as a review of all NPL & SPL matches.

Seems to be BOTH ends of the island being treated the same?

  6. Burnie may have changed their attitude but still seeing a lot of yellow and a couple of red cards already. So I'm not sure what the attitude is now?
As for coverage it's like any sport in Tasmania, if you do not breath southern air then you are worth nothing. With the referee crisis, I have spoken to a few refs in the last few weeks and there are some good ones coming through the ranks in the npl in time for the T league.

  7. I'd like to hear people thoughts on playing a North vs South rep game (series) again. We did it for a while, north dominated and now its gone in favour of the final 4 I suspect. Given (some) clubs take the final 4 not so seriously, would it not be worth considering the rep game again? Especially if regular A League action can be achieved in Tas. They are the perfect curtain raiser.

  10. i think the reviews and previews need to be brought back to the blog. While I enjoy reading Bakers reports, who wants to have a discussion on the Examiner Website, especially with the little respect they give to Football in Tasmania as it is

  11. Someone needs to pick a North West Team of the Decade - or past 20 years - that always upsets a few people and dents an ego or 2 (and massages a few as well).
I nominate David Mitchell to do this, who wouldnt be in my team....unless he picked me in his..... then he would....just

    1. Wasn't one of those done a few years back? I even think there was a report in the Advocate about it. I believe the team was chosen by the coast's leading mind in the game, Simon Jago, so it should have been pretty close to the mark!?!?

    2. Yeah that's right. Mmmm, he certainly had some insights into the game that many of us clearly didnt have.

    3. Thanks (?!) for your kind(?!!!) words Roderick. I would select you in my team but only so you could sit on the bench for 88 minutes. Your value as a goalkeeper would easily be surpassed by your pearls of wisdom, Monty Python and Derek and Clive renditions on the bus trip back (perhaps a special guest appearance by Noel Nethery..?). These skills would be further enhanced by your naked impersonations of gymnast Nadia Comenici (or Malcom "Tripod" Goodall?!) hanging from the crossbar at midnight under unflattering floodlights.

    4. Hahah!!!, ohh the memories!
Sadly, bus trips a bit different these days mate. Strictly no drinking.
So seriously, who do you reckon is the best player you have played with or against? I was thinking Liam Monagle or Brian Davidson

Burnie have definitely changed their attitude but a lot depends on the ref of the day and how he sees certain tackles.I watched every one of their games and noticed the diference,Listened also to their coach's instructions telling them to avoid argueing with the ref which was one of their main problems...so yes they have definitely changed their attitude.

  13. What about a coastal vs northern combined game ? City, united, rangers and prospect vs the coastal sides in a one of game ? Gives players a personal incentive to play well? Just a suggestion.

    1. What a great idea, 2 matches each year at the end of the season, include the women, and maybe the unders, as well, I feel sure that they would attract a good spectator crowd to see the best players all together on one venue, no gate charge, host club to get kiosk and raffle to pay refs. About time our best players got to showcase their talents.

  14. With the amount of good quality young players across all clubs a north v south rep game would be good To showcase some of this talent, this along with a senior game in both women and mens would be a great challenge for all players

  15. Pc, As I know and respect you but I'm sorry. You sound like all the others. Blaming a ref is not the answer. Same excuse last year and 20 years ago. A culture will never change.

  16. Good idea Rod, as you would have one great team there. Only some one stupid would not put yourself and Mitch in that team.
Here is another idea, do one for now with the great talent we have coming through and do as the juniors do and have an adult state comp, I.e north west, north and south. As I'm pretty sure the N/W would suprise a few....,

My dear vfriend what I said I stand by.I realise thje refs have not got an easy job but they are not all of the same standard.I have seen cards given for very minor offences and not given for more serious ones and am sure you will agree with that and two yellow make one RED.
AND WHHEN I WRITE I PUT MY NAME TO IT.I Have been involved with the game since 1976 and have seen the good and the bad.
However it is good to have different views and that makes the forum interesting.

  18. Lets talk T League... I am one that sits on the fence. How can clubs survive the financial burden in these economic struggles. How much does a club or sponsor have the shell out to enter this league?
It sounds to me like the A League where we will see teams struggle year in year out to pay the money needed. How much will FFT put towards clubs travel expenses as why should clubs pay to travel when they are putting the show on? I cant see how each club can gain an ongoing major sponsor when money is so tight atm. Dont get me wrong, the idea of a State League sure has its merits, but what about the clubs that dont make it in? I say we keep the NPL and SPL and revamp the Milan Statewide Cup. For example, have the top 2 teams from each league at the end of each year as the first teams in 4 pots. The other clubs are drawn at random to make up each pool. Each team plays a home and away game vs each team in their pool. The top 1 or 2 then go into a home and away knock out phase like the Champions League where the top team in 1 pool plays 2nd in another. Then make the switch to the T League.. Just a though.

Although I respect "some" older members that have been involved in the club for years, I don't think that they have changed or ever will.I.e standing on the sideline or coaches box yelling abuse and swearing at every referee descion and/or the opponents. Although they may be passionate about the game and their club this must have some impact on younger players coming through that hear this sort of thing week in week out?
But I do believe the current side playing now have a fairly good attitude towards the game, probably due to the exit of a few players.
    Or maybe I'm wrong altogether.

  22. I wholelly agree with your comments BF and you will rarely hear me abuse a player or official but most times I talk to them in a friendly way after the game and tell them what sort of a job I think they did and I find they do apreciate it.SOME OF THEM HOWEVER ARE ...NEVER WRONG and you would know that from your own experience.

  24. North V North West clash on 26 May, as none of us have been good enough to progress though statewide cup. Seniors and 18s, or maybe just seniors. Take some doing, but any chance??? I'd love to see it. I'd make a senior match compulsory viewing for my 18s. With byes and statewide fixtures as they are, there are too many weeks off in the heart of the season.

  30. What about sending each club a player profile template they can gave 3 or 4 filled in & emailed back ( with a player picture if able too)?
Post say two per week (in turn from all clubs that replied) as an article mud week when other posts on the site aren't regular ... so people visit the site knowing something new is up every few days??
Clubs that don't respond do without somepublicity.
Try to have questions on the player profile template to encourage positive replies about the local comp & opponents like ...
    1. Most difficult opposing team in last 12 months & why?
    2. Most difficult 2 opposition players in last 12 months & briefly why (speed, skill, strength, etc)?
    3. Best ground to play at (besides your own) taking into account - playing surface, atmosphere, facilities, canteen food & bar bevies, etc?
