Senior Players Depart

Sam Cocks has confirmed that Chris Smith has left the club and is signing with Somerset. Sam is unable to comment too much on this as he is in Queensland, however he wishes Smith and Somerset all the best.

It will be interesting to see how Chris goes at Burnie's rivals. Chris' experience will no doubt benefit the Sharks attack and he will hopefully take a leadership role, which will take some of the burden off Bobby Eaves shoulders.

Ulverstone have also lost a senior squad member for the third time this year in Waide Jones, who is returning to play footy for Ulverstone. His move to our code at the start of preseason looked to be paying off as he made his senior debut for the Reds against Somerset a week and a half ago. He was going to retain his spot in the starting line-up against Burnie this weekend however his younger brother informed the club of his decision last night at training.

  1. Hey Nicko

That's a shame about Waide. He looked like a great prospect from watching the game vs Somerset.

  2. By my estimate that gives Chris the set! He's played with Devonport, Ulverstone, Burnie and now Somerset. That's a NW sweep!
